Newsletter help for creatives, authors, nonprofits & small businesses

Your newsletter, made simple.

Whether you’re launching a book, sharing your art, thanking donors, or growing a small business, your newsletter is how you stay connected to the people who care. I handle the setup, the tech, and the “wait, why didn’t that send?” moments so you can get back to the work you love.

  • Plain-English help
  • No tech jargon
  • Built around how you actually work

Sound familiar?

Does any of this sound like you?

  • You know you should have a newsletter, but you’re not sure where to start.
  • You have a list, but you haven’t emailed it in… a while.
  • You’re not sure your emails are even landing in inboxes.
  • Every time you open your email platform, you close it again.
  • You’d love to send regularly, but writing and formatting and scheduling is just too much.
  • You’ve tried before, it fizzled, and you’re not sure what went wrong.

If you nodded along to even one of these, you’re in the right place. Most people who send newsletters feel this way, and every one of these is fixable.

Social media is rented. Your newsletter is yours.

Algorithms change. Accounts get hacked. Posts vanish into the scroll. But when someone joins your email list, they’ve raised their hand and said, “Yes, I want to hear from you.”

A newsletter is the one place where you can reach the people who love your work directly, on your schedule, without paying to boost a post. It’s where book launches, art drops, donor updates, event invitations, and new offers actually get seen.

The hard part isn’t the idea of a newsletter. It’s the tech, the setup, and the consistency. That’s the part I make simple.

Three ways I can help

Whether you’re starting from zero, keeping up with an existing list, or wondering why things feel stuck, there’s a place to start. Not sure which one fits? Book a call and we’ll figure it out together.

01 / Check-up

Newsletter Health Check + Video Walkthrough

Best for anyone who already has a newsletter and want expert eyes on what’s working, what needs attention, and what to do next.

Email Deliverability Check

Think of it as a check-up for your newsletter. I look under the hood, from the technical settings that decide whether you reach the inbox to the subject lines that decide whether you get opened. Then I walk you through it all in a personal video.

What you get

  • A full setup review of your newsletter’s overall health
  • A deliverability and domain check: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and blocklist status
  • A subscriber experience review: signup forms and welcome emails
  • A content review: formatting, subject lines, preview text, and calls to action
  • A list health review: engagement, inactive subscribers, and growth trends
  • A strategy review: how consistently you send and your overall approach
  • Your Newsletter Health Score, so you know where you stand
  • Written notes on what’s working and what needs attention
  • Your top 5 next steps, in priority order
  • A personal 10–15 minute video walkthrough of your results

Optional add-on: a 30-minute live follow-up call to talk through your results.

* Completed within 7–10 business days after access is provided, unless we agree otherwise.

* Temporary access to your email platform and/or DNS records may be needed for parts of the review.

02 / Ongoing

Monthly Newsletter Management

You write, I send.

Choose your rhythm:

1 send / month

2 sends / month

4 sends / month

Best for anyone who knows newsletters matter but doesn’t want to deal with one more system.

You write it. I handle everything else. Send me your content each month, and I’ll format it, test it, schedule it, and keep an eye on your list’s health, so your newsletter goes out on time, every time.

What you get

  • Formatting and scheduling: each send formatted in your existing template, set up, tested, and scheduled
  • List health monitoring: subscriber growth and engagement
  • A monthly backup of your subscriber list, so it’s never lost
  • A monthly performance report: sends, opens, clicks, unsubscribes, growth, and trends, in plain English
  • Basic tech fixes: send errors, broken links, formatting, and subscriber sync issues within your platform
  • Direct access to me for basic questions, troubleshooting, and strategic guidance

Monthly Management covers a single-column newsletter in your existing template, one subscriber group, and content sent to me ready to go. Custom design, multiple segments, or heavy formatting are quoted as custom projects.

Not included: platform migrations, automation builds, integration troubleshooting (Stripe, CRM, website forms), or deliverability fixes that need DNS/domain changes. I can quote these separately.

03 / From scratch

Full Newsletter Build Out

Best for anyone starting from scratch or completely starting over.

A complete, ready-to-go newsletter system, built for you from the ground up. By the end, you’ll have a branded, tested, fully working setup, and we’ll send your very first email together. (Yay!) Built in MailerLite unless we decide on a different platform together.

What you get

  • A 1-on-1 kickoff (Zoom or in person): goals, vision, look, your ideal reader, platform choice, and a lead magnet if it makes sense
  • Platform setup: account created and configured
  • Domain verification for better deliverability (we’ll do this part together)
  • Your branding uploaded: logos, colors, and fonts (you provide these)
  • Your existing list imported and organized
  • Up to three subscriber groups
  • Custom subscribe, unsubscribe, and preference pages
  • Two signup forms or landing pages:
    • one embedded on your website
    • one standalone page for your phone and social bios
  • A branded 3-email welcome sequence (Lead Magnet, Introduction, Expectations). You write them from my guidelines.
  • A reusable campaign template for future sends
  • Full testing of every page, campaign, and automation
  • Your first email, sent! 🎉

* You provide all logos, brand assets, lead magnet files, and email copy. Copywriting, website development, lead magnet creation, and third-party software fees are not included.

A few things to know (all packages): Email platform subscription fees and other third-party software costs are not included in any package. Access and requested materials are needed before work begins. Any work outside the listed scope is discussed and approved before it’s billed.

Other ways to work with me

Prefer to do it yourself, with a guide?

If you’d rather learn it and run it yourself, coaching gives you a newsletter expert in your corner.

Three Session Newsletter Coaching

Best for anyone who wants personalized guidance to build, improve, or grow their newsletter, and want to do the work themselves.

Three 60-minute sessions. We can follow this structure, or keep all three open for whatever you need most:

  1. Foundation: audience, purpose, platform, forms, welcome experience, goals
  2. Content + Consistency: what to send, how often, structure, subject lines, CTAs
  3. Growth + Optimization: engagement, list health, growth, metrics, next steps

Includes help with setup, forms, and automations; feedback on content and strategy; clear action steps after each session; and email access between sessions for quick questions.

Monthly Newsletter Coaching

Month to month, or a 3-month commitment

I teach and guide, you write and send. Best for anyone who wants ongoing accountability and strategy from a newsletter expert.

One 60-minute coaching call each month, a review of your upcoming plans, feedback on one newsletter before it goes out, a monthly look at growth and engagement, help deciding what to test next, and troubleshooting and strategy support.

Between calls, you can reach me with brief newsletter questions. Extensive reviews, setup work, or implementation are quoted separately.

A little more about me

I’m a storyteller at heart, and I love finding Gospel elements in all stories, especially fairytales. I believe stories that explain the Gospel in clear and captivating ways have the power to change the world, one person at a time. My first manuscript is currently with an agent, and I’m working on my second novel along with a few nonfiction projects that blend faith, creativity, and connection. When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me with a cup of coffee in hand, crafting newsletters, brainstorming ideas, or sending snail mail through The Wandering Words.

“

Kate is an email marketing wizard. I spent a decade on my list, and thought it was in great shape. Kate came in and identified core issues in a matter of minutes. Now my list is healthier than ever before, and I’m more confident about what to share, how to share it, and how to grow my list. I can’t stress how important it is for authors to have an expert like Kate on their team.

Vincent B Davis II

International Bestselling Author

“

Kate taught her newsletter class at our ACFW meeting, and I took so many notes! I followed through and contacted a well-established author to see if she would promote my newsletter to her subscribers. Thankfully, the author said yes, and my followers have taken off! I wouldn’t have had the nerve if Kate hadn’t suggested it. She’s always learning the ins and outs of the newsletter industry, and I’m thrilled to have someone so knowledgeable and practical helping me on my writing journey.

FAQ

Common Newsletter Worries

If one of these has been holding you back, you’re in good company. Here’s the honest answer to each.

“I don’t have time for a newsletter.”

That’s exactly why I’m here. With Monthly Management, all you do is write. I handle the formatting, testing, scheduling, and reporting. And with a solid setup from a Build Out, the time you do spend goes much further.

“I’m not techy.”

You don’t need to be. Most of the people I work with aren’t, and that’s fine. I work with your web guy or girl to make sure all the techy things get done (yes, even the scary acronyms like DKIM and DMARC), and I’ll explain anything you need to know in plain English.

“My list is tiny. Is it even worth it?”

Yes! A small list of people who genuinely care about your work or your mission is worth more than a big list of strangers. Every list starts small. Building good habits and a solid setup now means you’re ready as it grows. Engagement matters more than list size.

“I don’t know what to write.”

This is one of the most common worries, and one of the most fixable. Coaching helps you figure out what to send and how often, and my free biweekly newsletter is full of simple, practical ideas. Your readers signed up because they want to hear from you. You have more to say than you think.

“I already tried, and it fizzled out.”

That’s not failure. It’s information. Most newsletters stall because of a shaky setup, no clear rhythm, or simply life getting busy. A Health Check shows you exactly what happened and what to do next, and nothing you’ve built so far goes to waste.

“Isn’t social media enough?”

Social media is great for being discovered, but you don’t own it. Algorithms decide who sees your posts. Your email list is yours: a direct line to the people who want to hear from you, no matter what the apps do next.

“I don’t want to feel salesy or bug people.”

People joined your list because they wanted to hear from you. A good newsletter feels like a letter from a friend, not a sales pitch. I’ll help you find a rhythm and tone that feel natural to you.

“What if my emails are going to spam?”

That’s a real concern, and it’s often caused by technical settings most people never know exist. The Health Check includes a deliverability and domain check (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and blocklist status), and the Build Out includes domain verification from day one.

“I’m not on MailerLite. Can you still help?”

Most likely, yes! I’m comfortable in almost every email platform. MailerLite is my current favorite, so that’s where I build new systems, but Health Checks, Management, and Coaching work with the platform you already use. My one rule? I’d rather stay away from the monkeys. Not sure which platform fits you best? Book a call and we’ll figure it out together.

“I’ve already spent a lot on marketing that didn’t work.”

I hear you, and I’d never want you to stretch beyond what’s comfortable. That’s why there’s a range of options, from a one-time Health Check to ongoing support. Each one is clearly scoped, and nothing extra is billed without your approval first. Book a call and we’ll talk through what makes sense for your goals and budget.
